University of Oregon student Matthew Phillips, 22, was found unconscious in his bed early this afternoon by his roommate, John Greene.

Greene had entered the room looking to borrow his roommate’s iClicker when he saw the limp body. Acting quickly, he took Phillips to the hospital after completing his in-class quiz. Despite Greene’s heroic efforts, Phillips was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

According to Greene, Phillips attended his fraternity brother’s 21st birthday celebration at Taylor’s Bar and Grill the night before.

“Yeah, Matt tried to go shot for shot with his little,” Greene said. “I told him, ‘Bro, that’s a bad idea. Your little can for sure drink more than you.’ But he just told me to fuck off.”

Phillips’ death highlights a growing health issue on the University of Oregon campus: students suffering from extreme dehydration after a night out, while confined to bed due to harrowing hangover effects.

Local health experts recommend combating the issue by keeping a water bottle near your bed, and limiting alcohol consumption to fewer than 12 drinks a night.
